Extra Credit 2 - Creative Work

Hi, Felix here..
As you can see by the picture, I am not the most 'beautiful' of creatures, at least by most standards. Personally, I believe that I am quite fetching, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or so the saying goes). At any rate, there is much more at stake here than my good looks (or lack thereof). For years now, I have remained an outsider, welcome in neither court, and quite frankly, I grow weary of it. It is time that I take a much more proactive stand than I have in the past; it is not wise to leave one's fate solely in the hands of others. It is time that I speak on my own behalf, and that is exactly what I mean to do. If I wish to be recognized as a member of the Seelie Court, what better person to present my case but myself?!
Let us get the obvious out of the way first..I know without being told that I do not look like a traditional member of the Seelie Court. I am not beautiful like the selkie, or a well-beloved creature of fable like the leprechaun. Nor am I credited with being helpful like the brownie or hobgoblin. But now that I have told you all of the reasons why I should not be considered a member of the Seelie Court, let me give you some reasons why I should.
Let us take, for example, the true essence of the Unseelie Court. In nutshell; they hate humanity. They will use them for their own selfish gain, surely, but ultimately, if the whole human race were to be eradicated tomorrow, there would be much rejoicing in the Unseelie Court. I do not hate humanity; in fact I am quite fond of them as a whole. I have cried myself to sleep more than once for knowing that a child ran away from me in terror after an accidental glimpse. I am not cruel like the dullahan with his whip made of a human spine; I shudder in terror at the thought. Nor would I rejoice in the frightening of someone like the boggart does. To my knowledge, I am not a harbinger or messenger of death; nor do I find pleasure in the suffering of others. In a word, I am decidedly a most 'unseelie' Unseelie.
As you may know, the brownie (or hobgoblin depending on which part of the world you happen to reside) is credited for the doing of household chores for humans, such as the churning of butter or more notably, the mending of shoes. Everyone knows the legends...or so they think. Everyone is WRONG! For years, it is none other than I, Felix, who have done many of the works accredited to them, and gladly so, I have (by mutual agreement) allowed myself to remain an unseen background figure. Why, do you ask? Simple..I know that it is in the best interest of the human to believe it so. Humans are fragile creatures, and not prone to accept change well..the stories of the wee cute 'little people' are so ingrained, it would be devastating to learn that their belief is erroneous, and that these jobs are being done by an ugly brute like myself. Perish the thought! And not to blow my own horn here, but I use this as an example of modesty and to demonstrate my unselfish love for humanity (and for my fellow 'hopefully' members of the Seelie Court). Rather than cause humans undue stress, I remain unseen..and unacknowledged, and will continue to do so.
Furthermore, I, too, have a great capacity for love and honor, holding both in the highest of regard. I bring before you the prime case of Chloe, the one human who not only knows of my existence, but I would daresay, even holds a great fondness for me. Chloe is a human girl child of approximately 5 years, whose mother I met years ago. Before you ask, do not bother, for I will not answer in regards to my relationship with Chloe; but if you believe me to be her father, then I will not disavow you of the notion. At any rate, it was quite by accident that Chloe saw me (I went to tuck her in, believing her fast asleep and was caught at my own game). I talked with her and calmed her fears (she is prone to nightmares, you see) and since then we have become fast friends. While her mother, Beatrice, does not encourage her daughter to believe in me, she does not dissuade her, either. I ask for nothing in return from Beatrice, other than she let me see Chloe at least once a moon or so. She has graciously allowed this, and I am pleased to say that the arrangement is working out for all. Beatrice and I know that we can never truly be together as a couple, but do I love her? Most decidedly so.
I have brought a letter from Beatrice as well, and a note from Chloe on my behalf, if you would care to take a look at it. (hands up both notes for inspection). In closing, I can only say that I pray you will consider my arguments pleasing enough to be allowed admittance to your most venerable of courts, so that I, too, may proudly claim membership in the Seelie Court. Thank you for your time.
Respectfully,
Felix Felinious

Jinxy Jo
MacCodram and his Seal Wife
Once upon a time in a land so far, far away,
Stood an underwater kingdom based below a Scottish bay.
Underneath a King resided, alongside his beautiful Queen,
Who lived a happy and peaceful life with no evil to be foreseen.
A happy life both did share with their blessed children too,
Who were graced with beauty and handsome looks and were regal through and through.
Life was fun and sweet as well, with music and laughter shared,
Until one day the Queen was dead and misery prevailed.
The King was sad, but the children were worse and lost in their despair,
So he made a plan to marry again with a wife who could comb their hair.
And thus he came upon a witch and begged her for her hand,
Not realising that the witch was nasty and had some evil things planned.
A mother nor a wife, did the witch intend to be,
For jealousy enraged her, and she cursed throughout the sea.
And so the children were doomed and cursed because of their beautiful looks,
As the witch cast a binding spell on them from one of her wretched witchery books.
And thus the children were turned into podgy, slimy seals,
And cursed to the water for all their lives with only one difference in the deal.
For once a year the children would get back their beautiful skins,
And this one day of the year is where the love story begins.
Although the King banished the witch from the kingdom in a rage,
The curse was never removed and the children swam away.
To the Western isles the children went where they lived in the rocky sea,
And once a year they would shed their skins and dance because they were free.
One year on the day where they lost their skins a man had found them there,
And saw some seal skin lying around and took it to his lair.
Not a few hours had passed since he had taken the skin, and placed it in his home,
When a beautiful young women approached, crying and alone.
She told the story that she was from the sea, and her skins had been taken,
And he told her that he didn’t have them and she must have been mistaken,
He did however offer her a home, marriage and love as well,
And gratefully she accepted to a life without her seal like shell.
They married and had children too but forever she was home sick,
One stormy day, she found her skin and learned of her husband’s trick.
Although she loved her children dearly, she went back to the sea,
But her children understood so much and allowed her to be free.
And when their father returned from his fishing trip in the sea,
He knew just what had happened and what had made his wife flea.
But his children were not angry and learned a lesson from it all,
That no matter in the world you are, love can climb through a wall.
And therefore the children in years to come would take care of the seals in the sea,
And the story of the MacCodram clan is a living legend that forever would be.
